The first weg^ see in history concerning Mr. Ewing, in-forms us that he was a Receiver of at Vandalia soon after the organization oft*iis State, and that the public moneys in his handsvere deposited in various banks, as they are present day. In 1823 the State Bank was-obbed, by which disaster Mr. Ewing lost a thousand-dollar deposit.
