As it wants themost distinguishing characters of Chironia, whileit has others of a very different kind, particularlyin the anthers and stigma ; I have followed theexample of Pursh and others in referring it to thegenus Sabbatia of Adanson. This genus is characterised by a persistent calyx from jive to twelve parted ; a corolla from five to twelve parted; anthers finally revolute; stigma two parted, spiral; capsule one celled.
