Amsterdam. Rental bike by MacBike leaning against the railing of the Kees de Jongen Canal Bridge in the Jordaan district.
Amsterdam has 1281 bridges – the oldest dating back to 1648. All are numbered and many are named. This one after a character in a book about Amsterdam: Kees De Jongen (Kees, the boy) by Theo Thijssen. Many consider this the best book about Amsterdam (and/or boyhood). The writer Theo Thijssen was born just around the corner in the Jordaan district. This bridge is across from the Anne Frank House, crossing the Bloemgracht Canal where it enters the Prinsengracht Canal.
