Chairman Phil Kessler says the pre- liminaries are complete for the club's outing July 1 and solicits offerings from the club's members for the usual prizes. A. T. Bunyard will open his branch at Newport, R. I., on or about May 15. Wadley & Smythe and Ealph Arm- strong will also have branch stores at Newport. Mothers' day promises to be more widely observed in New York this year than ever before. The publicity com- mittee has a fine opportunity this week to demonstrate its efficiency. John Young, secretary of the S. A. F., left April 26 for a week's stay at Min- neapolis, to perfect arrangements with the local board for the August conven- tion. Max Schling, of 22 West Fifty-ninth street, reports good business, contract- ing for more centerpieces than he has ever done in one week. He had one dinner at the new Woolworth building for 900 covers, for which he alone made 102 centerpieces, the smallest consist- ing of 150 roses. He furnished ten other elaborate dinners. The combined lot represented 1,192 covers. He used, besides numerous other varieties, 1,100 Bichmonds, grading from No. 1 to spe- cials. The store of John S. Nicholas, in the Grand Central Terminal, opened April 23, and its attractive windows and fine decorations interest continuous crowds. The enterprise is a success from the beginning.
