His Excellency the 14th Dalai Lama, Tensin Gyatso, is the head monk of the Gelug school of Tibetan Buddhism, as well as the spiritual and cultural leader of the country. He fled to exile after the Chinese invasion and annexation of the country in 1959. Like many other Nobel Laureates, his footprints may be found embedded in the area around Stavanger Harbour, Norway.
