He had beenhere but one month and ten days when thenews arrived of the defeat of Braddock, andthe destruction of the army. And probablythe additional news also reached the Governor,that in that defeat his son William, who wasone of the Generals Aids, had been killed. War news had been for some time the mostprominent topic of the Town, and it was keptalive by arrivals of various accounts from the frontiers, and
