Polar climate research. Researcher entering a freezer that is being used to simulate conditions in polar regions. This work is being carried out as part of research into the effects of climate change on the polar regions. The facilities are part of the LOWTEX (Low Temperature Experimental Laboratory), and will also be used to simulate low-temperature environments elsewhere, such as on Mars. LOWTEX, which opened in 2007, is based at the University of Bristol, UK.
