Editorial use only Dredging machine operating in the Waduk (Lake) Pluit Reservoir as part of an ongoing revitalisation project. Pluit is a district situated in the north of Jakarta, adjacent to the ocean, which is susceptible to flooding. Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia, is situated in a delta of 13 rivers with 40 percent of land below sea level. Consequently, it faces a huge crisis of flooding, water pollution and the problem of excessive algae growth. Pluit is to some extent protected by the Giant Sea Wall of Jakarta but also relies on a large pump station to dispose of excess water during periods of flooding.
