Of late years Sir John has resided principally at Byram, near Ponte-fract, and when visiting Huddersfield has stayed at Longley Hall. His otherseats are Bulstrode Park, Gerrards Cross, Buckinghamshire, and Ardverike,near Kingussie, The total area of his estates is 150,000 acres.
