View from space of three open-pit copper mines located west-northwest of the town of Green Valley, Arizona: the Asarco-Mission Complex (top left), the Twin Buttes Mine (top right), and the Sierrita Mine (bottom right). All three mines produce copper and molybdenum. The Sierrita Mine also produces rhenium, a rare metal used to make high-temperature alloys for jet engine parts and in high-octane, lead-free gasoline.
