The work was begun early in the sum- mer and will be ready in <Hnf)lf timo forthe start of rush week. POGUE IS VICE-PRESIDENTOF CHASE NATIONAL BANK Last fall Dr. Joseph E. Pogue, NorthCarolina 06, was elected vice-presidentof the Chase National Bank of NewYork. He has been closely identified. JOSEPH E. POGUE North Carolina alumnus named vice-president of the Chase National Bank with the petroleum industry for manyyears as a consulting engineer and isknown widely as an authority on basictrends in that industry. He was born 50 years ago in Raleigh,N. Car. After acquiring his A. B. atChapel Hill in 1906 he returned to re-ceive his masters degree in 1907. Yaleconferred a Ph. D. upon him in 1909and he was a special student at the Uni-versity of Heidelberg in 1911. After serving as assistant curator ofmineralogy and petrology at the Smith-sonian Institute, he was appointed as-sociate geologist with the United StatesGreological Survey in 1913.
