Uterine cance. Light micrograph (LM) of a section of a choriocarcinoma of a human uterus. Choriocarcinoma is a quick-growing form of cancer that occurs in a woman's uterus (womb). The abnormal cells start in the tissue that would normally become the placenta and can occur some time after any type of pregnancy (including miscarriages or terminations). The nucleated cells present are trophoblasts, cells that grow to form most the placenta. It is characterized by early hematogenous spread (through the blood system) to the lungs. Magnification: x150 when printed at 10 centimetres wide. Human tissue.
