His single violets are good. October proved a delightful month climatically, the temperature being above the average, precipitation below normal and skies generally clear. No- vember 1 there still were quantities of outdoor flowers, such as salvias, cos- mos, pompon mums, Japanese anemones, geraniums, petunias and buddleias. Hybrid tea roses still carry some ex- cellent flowers. Patten & Co., of Tewksbury, have some fine Pink Sensation carnations. Peerless Pink, Matchless, Jove, a light pink seedling, Benora and Pink De- light are some of their leaders. W. F. Turner, of Woburn, and Cahill & Beasley, of East Milton, are large shippers of high-grade pansies. M. Leibman is receiving an excellent lot of Ivory and Halliday mums from Peter Hylen, of Eandolph. Oswald Ralph, of South Weymouth, has fin- ished sending him a fine crop of Glory of the Pacific mums. At the annual election of directors of the Boston Cooperative Flower Mar- ket, held October 30, Perry E. Green, J. Streiferd and Norris F. Comley were elected in place of John Barr, L. E. Small and Thomas Capers. The remain- ing directors are the same as a year ago. The market has had a successful year, and prospects for the ensuing year are excellent. The directors de- cided not to have a banquet this year. RHODE ISLAND JOHNSTON BROTH
