Buildings were both for rent and sale tothe employes, and school buildings with the mostup-to-date equipment, were erected. The schoolbuildings have bathrooms for the pupils, and aremodern in every particular. The clubhouse has beenerected by the President, William G. Mather, andthoroughly equipped. AN example that may be inspiring to others, ofthe application of Welfare Work by womenwho are interested financially in industrial en-terprises is that of Mrs. Pascal Enos Hatch, at theworks of the Illinois Glass Co., at Alton, 111. Thisestablishment is the greatest producer ot glass bot-tles in the world. The Welfare Work there has beenprogressive and, from the beginning, has been car-ried out in accordance with the advice of and byexperts furnished by the Employers Welfare De-partment of The National Civic Federation. Thefirst efforts of Mrs. Hatch were directed toward im-provements in sanitary rooms; providing a rest-room for the women packers, furnished with easychairs and a lounge, and brightened with plants andpictures; and, upon going through the factories
