Grey Seal (Halichoerus grypus)

Much larger than the British Common Seal, the Grey Seal is a relatively common breeder along our coastline. Unlike the Common Seal, the newborn pups take several weeks before they are capable of entering the sea, so Grey Seals must breed well above the high-tide mark. One of the best places to see the newborn pups is at Donna Nook, South Lincolnshire, in early November.
