If sown at the same will be fit to use before them. Later, the plants form broad, flat, beautiful white and wax-like stems to the leaves, which are very delicious cooked as beets, or pickled. Red Top Sugar Beet.—It unites capacity for a large yield with an exceedingly rich flesh, making it the best for cattle feeding. Tops medium sized; roots above medium size, long-top-shaped, growing slightly above the surface; white, washed with red at top; flesh fine grained and very sweet. Oz. 5c, hi lb. 15c, lb. 40c. Silesian Sugar.—This is the old well known form of sugar beet long raised in this country for feeding, and the variety mainly grown abroad for sugar. Oz. 5c, hi lb. 15c, lb. 40c. Yilmorin's Improved Sugar.—A variety out of which much sugar has been made abroad—used here for stock feed; skin cream color; flesh white; an average of fifteen tons can be produced per acre.
