Asia: 'Magni Mogolis Imperium' or 'The Great Moghul Empire'. Map by Willem Blaeu (1571-1638) & Joan Blaeu (1596-1673), Amsterdam, 1648 A celebrated and elegant map by Willem and Joan Blaeu of the Moghul Empire. The map shows the Ganges, Bengal, Delhi, Lahor, Cashmere & Kabul; decorations include an ornate cartouche, galleons, elephants and camels. Of particular interest, to the east of the Moghul Empire the specious 'Chiamay Lacus' or 'Lake Chiang Mai' is particularly large and is represented as the source of five major rivers emptying into the Bay of Bengal and the South China Sea.
