The avenue of trained apple and pear trees with a display of delicate pink blossom within the Orchard at Rousham House in Oxfordshire. The orchard contains a mixture of old trees with gnarled trunks and branches, together with new specimens grown from cuttings of the more established trees, of which there are several varieties of both apple and pear. The grounds of Rousham were mainly designed by William Kent (1685-1748) and are a remarkable example of English landscape design remaining much as Kent left them in the mid-18th Century. The Walled Garden at Rousham pre-dates the work done by Kent.
