This bottlenose dolphin (Tursiops truncatus) favoured me with a close inspection. Eye contact with a dolphin is an unforgettable experience. Red Sea.

While returning to our liveaboard, following a visit to the 130 year old wreck of the streamer Ulysses, my dive buddy and I were overtaken at a depth of ten metres by a pod of about a dozen bottlenose dolphins. One of them left the group and favoured me with a close inspection, staying with me for several minutes. Words are inadequate to describe how wonderful it is when a wild dolphin chooses to interact with a diver, including very special and intense eye contact which seems to reach into one's very soul.
