When merely pulling to the near or off side of the road to avoid ob- stacles or passing a vehicle, a slight touch of the right hand on the lead rein will be all that is necessary, keep- ing the right hand on the rein until the obstacle is passed. It might perhaps be necessary to turn the wheeler off as well if he does not follow, which can be done by tak-.
