A railroad control tower protecting a diamond crossing where two railroads cross each other's tracks. Train movements at the busy junction are controlled by the old tower that handles rail traffic for both Canadian National and Union Pacific trains as well as Metra commuter train activity that uses the Union Pacific tracks into Chicago. The tower still sports an identification sign that links its past back to ownership by the Elgin, Joliet & Eastern Railway which was acquired by the Canadian National Railway.
