C.—Three policewomen have begun activeduty here, and will be known as travelers aides and as-signed to the railway stations of the city. Full police pow-ers are vested in them, and they will wear distinctive uni-forms and police badges. A parade and speeches marked the local cele-bration. The apparatus is shown in the accompanying il-lustration. New Combination Arrives. Dunkirk, N. Y.—The new combination lire automoljilcordered by the board some time ago has arrived from Buf-falo from the makers, the E. R. Thomas Co. The apparatusis a combination pumper, chemical engine and hose wagon,driven by a 90 horse power motor and equipped witli anelectric self-starter and electric lights. The chemical tankhas a capacity of 40 gallons and there is 100 feet of chem-ical hose. A thousand feet of hose can be carried on thetruck.
