The HX81 tank transporter was jointly developed by MAN and Rheinmetall. It evolved from the MAN HX77 and SX45 heavy high mobility trucks. It is a purpose designed military vehicle, designed for heavy duty and toughest environmental conditions. The MAN HX81 is used by the German Army, where it is known as SLT-2 Mammut. Sometimes this vehicle is also referred as SLT-70. German Army purchased 12 of these vehicles to replace the old FAUN SLT-50 Elefant. Vehicles were delivered in 2013. A larger 50 t capacity semi-trailer is used to carry tracked armored vehicles.
