One of a pair of sculptures located in front of the Hôtel de Ville in Paris, symbolizing the two great realms of human achievement, science and art. This nude female figure, holding a pair of measuring dividers and a drawing tablet, is representing “La Science” and is by the sculptor Jules Blanchard 1832-1916. The statue was commissioned in 1882.
