The house was built of fine hewn stones acconlinirto my informant who had seen it. Two stone windows inthe front, says jMr. Hutton in the letter already referred to,have the impression of arms on them; and on the north endthere is a barti/an, as they call it, looking towards the the baitizan or the house itself was covered or roofedwith lead. In 1789 the farmer at Balmerino lived in partof this house. It was afterwards abandoned, and the farmeroccupied a house of one story which stood where the farmstables
