Seattle, Washington: Space Needle LLC officially started construction of the Century Project, a multi-year venture focused on preservation and renovation of the Space Needle. The $100 million privately funded project includes updating of the Space Needle’s internal systems and expanding and improving its views from the Observation Deck and restaurant levels. The crews are working on the structure in 1/6th pie-shaped segments of the Space Needle’s Tophouse, allowing the landmark to remain open until completion in June of 2018.
