This mate-rial, which faithfully reproduces themarble of the buildings of ancient Rome,is of a soft ivory tint that is restful tothe eye, even in the most glaring sun-shine. The Panama-Pacific is the first expo-sition to have a comprehensive colorscheme. The vast expanses of whitewall-space that have been a more or lessunpleasant feature of other expositionsare here totally absent. In fact therewill not be a single object of flat whiteupon the grounds. The color scheme isthe creation of Jules Guerin, the illus-trator and painter. Its principal tonesare burnt orange, Venetian red, Pom-peiian red, cerulean blue, vert antique, sienna and various pastel ti-nts especially Pacific Service Magazine 295. A. Stirling Caldcr, Chief of Sculpt selected for exposition purposes. Everydetail of the Exposition has been madeto conform to the color scheme (except-ing possibly some of the gayer edificesof the Zone), even to the uniforms ofthe exposition guards who police thegrounds. The decoration of the buildings andcourts has been greatly enhanced with aprofusion of sculpture and a number ofiiuiral paintings by ten of the leadingmural artists of the country. The sculp-tural decoration is arranged in an orderlysefjuence commencing at the main en-trance of the grounds, which is markedby the Tower of Jewels, andextending throughout the courts and gar-dens.
