Growth and individual variability of the cervical vertebrae tend to minimize the accuracy of any identification of nonassociated specimens. Although the atlas is the most variable of the cervical verte- brae, the inclosure of the cervical extension of the thoracic retia mirabilia seems not to have resulted in any uniform modification of the upper and lower transverse processes. Measurements (in mm.) of cervical vertebrae, USNM 23203, are as indicated above.
