SHOREFACE-CONNECTED TO ISOLATED SHOALS: SHOAL DETACHMENT AND EVOLUTION Continuity between Shoreface-Connected and Shelf Shoal Fields The apparently gradational transition between shoreface-connected and isolated shoals of the Atlantic shelf suggests that a genetic relationship exists between the two categories. The patterns of inner shelf shoals can be traced 583.
