A saw mill demonstration using steam traction engines at a Steam Rally in West Sussex.


Wiston park at the foot of the South Downs in West Sussex is the venue for a Steam Rally in July. In this image steam traction engines are used to demonstrate how a saw mill operated when these vehicles were in their heyday. The green engine to the left of the image is a Marshall 8 nhp S Type Portable, built 1929, Works No: 84480. Owned by Bill Lowe, Cobham, Surrey. The engine in the background is a Fowler 6nhp A4 Traction Engine "Endurance", built 1895, Registration No: BW 4506, Works No: 7459. Owned by the Langley family from South Chailey, East Sussex.
