Lake Inle, Myanmar - 1 February 2013; Inle Lake is a large and scenic freshwater lake located in the Nyaungshwe Township of Shan State, part of Shan Hills in Myanmar. A unique ecosystem, large sections of the lake are covered by floating plants, whilst its clear waters are home to diverse fauna and many species found nowhere else in the world, There are more than 35 native species of fish, so fishing by the native Intha peoples is a major industry for the area. The fishermen here have two claims to fame - first, their unique style of one-legged rowing, which leaves their hands free for net throwing and hauling; secondly, their practice of hitting the water with their oars, to attract fish.
