Michele Vergne (born 1943), French mathematician, at a 'Speed Science' event organised to allow 100 young people to meet a range of eminent French scientists. Vergne specialises in analysis, the geometry of numbers, and group representation theory, particularly Lie groups and Lie algebra. Her publications include 'Applications of Equivariant Cohomology' (2006). She was elected a member of the French Academy of Sciences in 1997, the same year she was awarded its Prix Ampere.
