Mount Vodice (SLO) WWI: an Italian boot, half-buried in the underwood vegetation. Inserting cardboard layers instead of leather ones in the soles of the soldiers' shoes was one of the commonest frauds which were perpetrated by the suppliers of the Italian army. That was a very serious problem, considering the places where the soldiers had to fight.
