To this species Matthew and Cook referred eight lower jaws, and a portion of an upper jaw from Snake Creek. The Snake Creek Beds are considered by Matthew and Cook as representing an early phase of the Pliocene. After an examination of the type specimen of T. hippophagus, and a comparison with the type of T. rurestris of an excellent east, kindly furnished by Dr. Matthew, there seems no doubt.
