March 22d 1863 Dear Mary Yours of the 8th inst. came to hand last night, I had just got to my tent from meeting, when the mail came in, I was truly glad to hear from you, We are now aboard a splendid Steamer, & will start down the Yazoo pass in the morning, all of our Division are now embarking on boats. I am in good health. This may possibly be the last letter you will get from me for some time, as I expect we will not have very good opportunities for getting letters out from where we are going, but the next letter you get from me, you may expect a good big one, unless I have an opportunity of sending one sooner than I think for. And I hope you will not despair of hearing from me, & quit writing, you may rest assured that I will write at every opportunity. ?
