River pollution. Wheelbarrow and a washing machine in a river. This domestic waste was removed from the river as part of a project to clean up the River Seine, France. The project was organised by the OSE (Organe de Sauvetage Ecologique, Ecological Rescue Organisation) and SIAAP, an interdepartmental syndicate for cleaning Paris and its suburbs. Photographed on 5 June 2005, near the town of Vigneux-sur-Seine. This region had become one of the most polluted areas of the river.
