070802-N-9864S-012 PACIFIC OCEAN (Aug. 2, 2007) - Machinist's Mate 1st Class Eddie Mangum raises the upper shell of one of the USS Kitty Hawk's (CV 63) shaft bearing housings with a chain fall while the shell is being removed. Once the shell is removed and placed upside down, the Sailors will be able to see any grooves cut into it by the shaft. They will then smooth out the shaft and shell to get a perfect fit.
