The Amazon River is the largest river in the world and is also the longest. It contains much more water than the Nile, the Yangtze and the Mississippi together and accounts for nearly a fifth of the planet's fresh water current. The highest and most distant source of the Amazon has been located in the mountains Chila, in the foothills of Mount Mismi, Arequipa, Peru. Among the several names given to the Amazon River along its course, stand out on the following: Lloqueta, Apurimac, Ene, Tambo, Ucayali, Marañón and Amazon. When the river enters Brazil renamed Solimões river for a good stretch. Then again take the name of the Amazon River at the confluence with the Black River. After the confluence of the Ucayali and Apurimac river leaves behind the Andean region and enters a flood plain and gently undulating. Walk also Peruvian-Colombian border and then make tripartite border with Brazil.
