Spliceosome, illustration

Illustration showing the processing of primary RNA (ribonucleic acid), or hnRNA (heterogeneous nuclear RNA, turquoise). The cell nucleus-based spliceosome (multi-coloured), specifically cuts out intron sequences of the pre-mRNA (messenger RNA) molecule, resulting in mature mRNAs, that are then transported to the ribosomes in the cytoplasm.
