Tarleton, Lancashire. 30th Oct, 2017. UK Weather. Cold rural frost brings winter arctic blast to the north-west making things difficult for turf farmers to harvest the crop. Turf, here harvested by a AutoStack II harvester & a Moffett M1 forklift truck, can actually keep for days or even weeks if completely frozen. Nature allows turf to be unaffected by frozen conditions but when fields are affected by severe frosty weather turf cannot be harvested, although the grass plants won't be damaged by the cold.
