North Brazil (Para, Cahanis), Trinidad, Venezuela. Habits. Schomburgk states (Reis. Guian. iii. p. 687) that he often found tliis bird in bushes on the outskirts of woods as well as in dense woojjs in the neighbourhood of rivers. It is a â \'ery wary bird, and at the slightest sign of danger hides itself in the thickest of bushes. Genus THAMNOPHILUS Vieill. Thamnophilus Vieillot, Anal. nouv. OrnitL p. 40,1816. Type T. doliatus (Linn.).. Fig. 8.âThamnopTiilus doliatus. The chief characters that constitute this genus are the large crest, which is composed of white feathers with black tips.
