Beautiful convent and Church of Graça, founded in 1291 by the religious Order of Saint Augustine and used as the order’s Portuguese headquarters. Church of Graça was built on the site where the forces of King Afonso Henriques camped when they laid siege of Lisbon to recapture the city from the Moors. In the 15th century went through some refurbishments and, almost 3 centuries later, needed to undergo restoration works after the 1755 massive earthquake that decimated Lisbon.
