Late C14th canopied tomb with effigy of a tonsured priest vested in his Mass robes on N wall of chancel of Corpus Christi Church, Tremeirchion, Denbighshire, Wales, UK. Effigy under a deeply moulded Decorated Gothic arch rests on an a stone ledger above an altar tomb divided into panels ornamented with croquets, finials & shields bearing family heraldry & symbols of the Crucifixion/Passion. Dafydd ap Hywel ap Madog: Dafydd Ddu Athro o Hiraddug (Black David, the Teacher of Hiraddug) was Canon of St Asaph & Vicar of Tremeirchion, famous as a bard, writer & prophet. He wrote poems & Predictions (Daroganau) in Welsh & translated into Welsh the Officium B Mariae from the Book of Psalms.
