A Persian helmet and shield, 19th century. Matching set. The helmet's skull is forged in one piece and has a quadrangular spike, which may be unscrewed, an adjustable nasal, and plume sockets on the sides. The entire surface is cut with floral ornamentation between round inscription cartouches with gold and (darkened) silver inlay. An inscription scroll runs along the lower rim, and a hanging mail curtains of bent iron rings. Height ca. 56 cm.
