His father was a miner by son came to the United States in 1878, settlingin Heber Citv, Utah, where he passed ten Adarnson learned the trade of locomotiveengineer in his native place, but on coming to theUnited States engaged in farming, although he alsoworked as a stationary engineer at various timesin Heber City. There he remained for ten years,but in 1888 moved to Park City, Utah, there be-coming engineer in the Daley mines, in which capa-city he continued to remain until 1898. There heaccumulated and sold city realties, and on comingto Carey purchased a one-half interest in the HotSprings Ranch, and followed ranching successfully. \ HISTORY OF IDAHO 871 until igio, when he disposed of his holdings in theranch to advantage. During these years interested himself extensively in cattle-raising, and in this, as in other business matters,he met with a uniform amount of success. Duringthe spring of igog he purchased interests in theBlaine Co-operative Mercantile Company^ and atthis time is the principal stockholder and the com-panys president. Since his incumbency in thiscapacity the business of the firm has enjoyed asteady and continuous growth, and among businessmen of Carey Mr. Adamson holds a high reputation,as he does also in the confidence of the generalpublic. He is the owner of a model ranch andpleasant home, and he and his family occupy placesof distinction in social circles. In his politicalviews he is independent, and for six years servedas school trustee. Mr. Adamson and his wife andfamily
