Galvin, Inc., last week were noted some excellent nerines and, among or- chids, fine Cypripedium insigne San- derce, as well as cattleyas and other species. A nice selection of chrysan- themums in pots, as well as begonias and cyclamens, was noted here. The annual meeting of the stockhold- ers of the Boston Flower Exchange, Inc., will be held at 8 p. m., Saturday, Octo- ber 28, at the American house, 56 Hano- ver street, Boston. A large attendance is expected, in view of the consolidation of the wholesale market and the pur- chase of the Cyclorama building on Tre- mont street for a new grand central market, and nuirh business of interest will come up. William H. Ward, of Montvale, who formerly grew carnations, freesias and myosotis in quantity, now has all his greenhouses planted with Asparagus Sprengeri and A. ])himosus. At the store of T. J. Grey Co., on South Market street, Mr. Miller states that Dutch bulbs have sold remarkably well this season, but the high prices of French bulbs have greatly affected their sale. They are doing a good busi- ness now in market g;irden seed for greenhouse use. Welch's, Inc., is keeping busy and is receiving some splendid stock. A large shipment of roses and mums from New Jersey is received several times a week and the quality is first-class.
