For this reason, the mine inspector Ins deemed it his duty torefrain from advising continuance of work which might result in the loss of more lives,when there i. not the slightest reason to hope that lives miglit be saved by it. As longas the work was in progress, he visited the mine frequently, and saw that everypracticable precaution was taken to insvire the safety of the workmen, and the officersof the company complied with his suggestions and J J\l j\.
