PORTABLE TESTING SET A portable testing set, which contains many novel points,has been placed on the market recently by Nalder Bros. &Thompson, Ltd., of London. It is designed to meet the de-mand for an instrument that can be used in an engine room,. reverse the motion to drill the other rail directly opposite thefirst hole. This saves considerable time, beside requiring noexpert to get holes exactly opposite. A gage is placed on the side of the machine by which theoperator can adjust his drill point as desired. The automaticfeed is reversible, and will operate in either direction, or canbe instantly changed to a hand feed. The clamps for holdingmachine to the rail are adjustable, so as to hold firmly at what-ever position the machine may be in. The motor provided this season is more powerful and will beplaced in position, fully wired and equipped ready for instantservice. It will be placed in a weather-proof box. It is stated
