SAN DIEGO (May 11, 2015) Sailors and Marines aboard the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Essex (LHD 2) man the rails as Essex leaves for a scheduled deployment as part of the Essex Amphibious Ready Group (ARG). The Essex ARG is comprised of USS Essex, amphibious dock landing ship USS Rushmore (LSD 47), and the amphibious transport dock USS Anchorage (LPD 23), which is embarking upon its maiden deployment.
