Hunting scenes carved in granite at Hampi, in northern Karnataka, India. Hampi is a historic village located within the ruins of the city of Vijayanagara, the former capital of the Vijayanagara Empire which thrived from the 14th to the 16th century. Hampi pre-dates the city of Vijayanagara and is an important religious centre, containing the Virupaksha Temple and several other monuments. The ruins are a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
